Open Initiatives Day Encourages MSMEs to Adopt Technology Through "Fintech's Speed to Seed" at the Smesco Integrated Startup Hub
Jakarta, 7 July 2025 — Open Initiatives Day, held at the SMESCO Integrated Startup Hub and managed by Ruang & Initiatives, presented the program “Fintech’s Speed to Seed” as an effort to accelerate technology adoption and expand access to digital financing for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The program directly connected business owners with fintech platforms to broaden funding opportunities and support the growth of the digital economy.
The event was attended by 21 MSME participants and collaborated with Crowdee and the Indonesian Joint Funding Fintech Association (AFPI) as key partners. During the presentation sessions, Andrew from Crowdee and Yasmine Sembiring, Executive Director of AFPI, delivered comprehensive insights into digital financing models, risk mitigation, business eligibility assessment mechanisms, and the potential of fintech to accelerate MSME scalability.
Through interactive discussions, participants gained a deeper understanding of how financial technology can support bookkeeping, improve access to capital, and expand market reach through more transparent and measurable systems. MSME participants were also given the opportunity to engage in short business matching sessions with fintech platforms, allowing direct consultations regarding funding solutions aligned with their business capacities.
This program is part of Open Initiatives Day’s commitment to strengthening a cross-sector, collaborative entrepreneurial ecosystem. Hosting the activity at the SMESCO Integrated Startup Hub reinforced the hub’s role as a center of innovation and a meeting point for business owners, startup communities, and digital service providers.
Initial outcomes of the program indicated improved participant understanding of digital financial management, increased readiness to access technology-based financing, and growing interest in utilizing fintech services more strategically. The initiative directly supports SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) by enhancing access to innovation and financial inclusion.
Through the implementation of this program, Open Initiatives Day reaffirmed its commitment to creating collaborative spaces that accelerate MSME digital transformation and ensure business competitiveness in an increasingly digital economy.
