HERSPACE 2025 Strengthens Equality and Safe Spaces Through Women's Stories in the "Kini Setara" Open Initiatives Day Program

Jakarta, 13 May 2025. HERSPACE: Power in Every Story, part of the Kini Setara initiative organized by Ruang & Initiatives, was successfully held at MULA by Galeria Jakarta, bringing together 20 selected participants consisting of both women and men who are committed to issues of equality and empowerment. The event was a collaboration between Ruang & Initiatives, Buah Tangan, and Relasi Diri, with full support from Pink Rabbit Lens, a brand dedicated to women’s empowerment through creative work, products, and job creation for young women from diverse backgrounds.

HERSPACE opened with a reflective session where each participant brought a personal item that carried meaningful stories in their lives. Through these stories, participants connected with one another in a safe space an essential first step in building solidarity and empathy. The session evolved into a shared emotional experience, preparing participants to further explore and reflect on the program’s core theme: the power of every story in the journey toward equality.

The main discussion featured three speakers from different backgrounds:

• Sarah Aurelia Saragih, M.Psi., a psychologist focused on women’s wellbeing
• Maria G. Isabella, Founder of Copa de Flores, a woven-fashion brand empowering mothers and young women survivors of domestic violence in Maumere, Sikka
• Dirda Muthi Kemalaatuljiba, Owner of Pink Rabbit Lens and an advocate for women’s empowerment

They shared insights drawn from their respective fields and lived experiences ranging from mental health dynamics and women’s professional journeys to creative processes and the role of community as a foundation for equality. Alongside the discussion, participants joined interactive activities designed to build trust, strengthen connections, and foster a supportive environment.

As part of the Kini Setara initiative, HERSPACE reinforces the importance of collective involvement of both women and men in advancing equitable spaces. The diverse backgrounds of participants enriched the conversation and deepened shared understanding of holistic gender equality. HERSPACE served as an important space for cultivating empathy, strengthening networks, and building communities that care about women’s empowerment and wellbeing.
